Jacob Gaucher suspended three (3) games

Quebec City, QC – The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Eric Chouinard, suspended today Val-d’Or Foreurs forward Jacob Gaucher for three (3) games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on May 17th against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

At the end of the game, with the score largely out of reach for the opposing team, Jacob Gaucher of the Val-d’Or Foreurs had plenty of time to realize that his opponent was in a vulnerable position. Nonetheless, he hit the Chicoutimi Saguenéens’ player. The contact was severe and the blow was directly to the head. This is an unacceptable gesture that we wish to eliminate in our league.

The Director of Player Safety made his decision after having reviewed all available video footage, considered the officials’ report, spoken to the organizations involved and consulted with the Advisory Committee for disciplinary sanctions.
